Abstract/Summary:
A company that operates under Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) authorization must be careful that any changes that are implemented do not affect integrity of the existing FAA approved quality system. The objective of this project was to develop a quality manual that combined the elements of ISO 9001:2000 and FAA Parts Manufacturer Approval, while providing confidence to the FAA that the limits of the production authorization would not be adversely affected. The methodology that was used was to examine the focus, trends and requirements of the FAA and then to use these as the guiding principles of the quality manual. The resulting quality manual follows the elements defined by ISO 9001 and the FAA regulations and guidelines, and each are clearly identified and referenced, so there is a clear understanding of what regulation governs each of the individual company processes.
