Abstract/Summary:
Creativity is a circular process. While we are trained to think in linear terms of cause and effect, conflict and resolution, the journey from point A to point B is not always a straight line. Seemingly infinite routes can alter the perceptions and influences of our destination. We weave patterns that bring us together and ultimately define who we are as a culture.; It is in the nature of the tools and in the nature of humans that the process of learning to use tools reshapes us. The computer as tool changes the way in which we manage the process of production. This complex tool forces a degree of specialization that can conflict with our ability to become more universally learned. Leonardo da Vinci is quoted to have said, "Although nature commences with reason and ends in experience it is necessary for us to do the opposite, that is to commence with experience and from this to proceed to investigate the reason."1; 1http://www.spaceandmotion.com/philosophy-art-truth.html...
