| This thesis describes the process of upgrading an existing campus financial reporting website, which only supported the Internet Explorer browser, to a fully compliant website that conforms in accordance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. This act requires that electronic and information technologies from federal agencies be accessible to people with disabilities.;In addition to the website, the financial reports must also be accessible when using assistive technology (e.g., screen readers, screen magnifiers, and braille printers). This thesis provides a solution to dynamically create financial Portable Document Format (PDF) reports that successfully pass Adobe's full check accessibility tests. However, after judging from a human perspective, it was apparent the table-driven PDF reports were still considerably out of compliance. Therefore, the HyperText Markup Language (HTML) file format will need to be added to produce fully compliant financial reports, because it is widely supported by assistive technology for almost all disabilities. |
