Abstract/Summary:
Literacy skills are critical to school and life success. Family literacy has been proposed as a method to increase the literacy skills of low-income youth. The purpose of this project was to design a Family Literacy Program, identify potential funding, and complete a grant proposal for a Family Literacy program at the Stevenson-YMCA Community School in Long Beach, California. Foundations to potentially fund the grant were sought through the grant library database, FC Search. The Mazda Foundation, USA was the most suitable foundation for grant submission.
