Inspired by the theology of Eastern Orthodox Christianity, an evangelical, charismatic community was started in Indianapolis in the 1970's. When the entire group chose to convert to Eastern Orthodoxy in the early 2000's, they came face-to-face with other Orthodox communities culturally different from their own. In the struggle to negotiate their local traditions with those of the Orthodox Church proper, the community asks, what is authentic? What is American? And above all, what is Orthodox?...
