Abstract/Summary:
This paper is an analysis of knowledge sharing and collaboration within the Information Technology (IT) organization of a Canadian manufacturing company. This analysis includes interviews with IT managers and research into these topics. This paper attempts to explain the current state of knowledge sharing and collaboration as perceived by these IT managers, including perspectives on explicit knowledge and implicit knowledge, as well as perceptions on the challenges and opportunities with knowledge sharing and collaboration. This paper puts forward a framework to help explain the elements that are part of successful knowledge sharing and collaboration, as well as how this framework can be applied within this organization to help better understand and sustain knowledge sharing and collaboration moving forward.
