Abstract/Summary:
Currently the vast majority of radio transmission and detection have been realized using traditional analog radio components or specialized integrated circuits. Upgrading these radios to receive new transmission standards and protocols is either not possible, cost-prohibitive, or not practical. If a fast general-purpose personal computer and efficient software was used, it would be possible to demodulate an NTSC transmission in real-time. This research aimed to explore the creation of a software-based television receiver capable of receiving NTSC transmissions using commercial off-the-shelf components.
