Since the invention of the integrated circuit, devices have increasingly become smaller, faster, and more powerful. Just as the many transistors are integrated to form one IC, a system-on-a-chip integrates what would traditionally be many separate components into one system on silicon. As the MSCAD circuit design group continues to design analog and mixed-signal components for use in a system-on-a-chip, work on system-level integration must also be continued. In addition to the development of a thorough set of system-level requirements and specifications, a system prototype is constructed using commercially available components. Following a functional system prototype, a digital core for use in the system-on-a-chip is developed. |
