Abstract/Summary:
This thesis documents the research and design of a modern track radar for an antiballistic missile system. The thesis includes a high-level design of a fully digital AESA radar, with a digital receiver and signal processors. Research into relevant T/R module technologies is included, as well as description of a ballistic missile kinematics simulation, which was developed to provide context for target-dependent parameters and to drive the radar performance. The design includes discussions of all major subsystems, including the AESA, receiver, and signal processors, as well as waveform design and concept of operations. The radar performance is analyzed as it pertains to target detection, track, and discrimination.
