Abstract/Summary:
In recognition of the emerging importance of the Taiwanese folkloric tradition, Taiwanese children are entitled to know more about their culture through Taiwanese traditional songs. This thesis is a compilation of Taiwanese native language materials including Holo-Taiwanese, Hakka, and aboriginals folk-songs for use by all Taiwanese teachers and students. One hundred and sixty Taiwanese traditional and composed folksongs are collected in this thesis.; The research is shaped around three domains: song collection and analyses; a compiled curriculum; the fieldwork at an elementary school. This research will examine the musical elements of the folk-songs for application in musical instruction. Field-testing the curriculum at an elementary school, and interviews with students, parents, and school instructors are significant steps to examine the efficiency of the curriculum. The indices will also be an important resource for music teachers to design their own curriculum.
