Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this project was to design an educational program, identify potential funding sources, and write a grant to fund a 1-day educational program on human papillomavirus (HPV) for foster youth who are emancipating from the foster care system. An extensive literature review about the human papillomavirus, as well as current independent living programs increased the knowledge of similar evidenced based programs. Potential funding sources were accessed through the internet and grant databases in selection of The California Wellness Foundation. A grant was written to support an educational HPV program through the Independent Living Program at the Department of Children and Family Services.
