Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this project was to write a grant proposal to secure funding to design and execute an educational outreach program at the Whittier Senior Center located in the city of Whittier, California to prevent medication misuse and abuse in older adults. The use of prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs by older adults can increase their risk for adverse health effects and potentially even death. The goal of the proposed program is to educate and empower older adult members living in the community of the city of Whittier to safely manage their use of prescription and over-the-counter medications. The potential funding source for the program was identified as the California Wellness Foundation. The actual submission and/or funding of the grant proposal were not a requirement for the successful completion of this project.
