Abstract/Summary:
This Thesis has as its main objective to demonstrate the benefits that the elaboration of Maintenance Strategic Plans by means of RCM technique (Reliability Centered Maintenance), applicable to a type of industries with interesting characteristics, a large-scale distributed system which contains a large number of different components, companies distributed throughout hundreds or thousands of kilometres. These systems are usually composed by different subsystems that have to work under different environments and are supervised by different maintenance staffs, as they would be a system of transport or distribution of electrical energy or the overhead contact line of a railroad.; As a complement to the proposed methodology, it is developed its application to one of the indicated infrastructures, the overhead contact line of the Spanish railway network.; This methodology try to facilitate the decision making process that makes possible the accomplishment of policies of improvements, distribution of resources, etc., and to determine the optimum maintenance intervals, not only with the intention of reducing costs, but also, and of special importance, to be able to improve the reliability indices of the installation that allow to guarantee high levels of availability.; In addition, the particular characteristics of this type of systems will do necessary to apply tools that complement this work, focused to analyze the influence of the operational environment, important aspect in this kind of systems, for which will be used regression techniques, the possibility of analyzing the evolution of the behaviour of elements and facilities using an analysis of Duane-Plot, and the determination of Component Criticality Index, a novel technique inspired by FMEA technique (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), but adapted to its application on these systems, with characteristics far from industrial systems where FMEA was developed. All these tools will be applied with the intention of facilitating the analysis of the system and making possible the application of RCM technique in the management of the maintenance.; This methodology will improve the RCM technique allowing elaborating dynamic Maintenance Plans. The procedure is focused on the analysis of the system operating history with the important advantage that the subjectivity of the usual procedures practically disappears.
