Abstract/Summary:
If art imitates life then art is an expression of the semblance of reality and the complexity of the human condition. Fundamental to this imitation is the need to explore our sense of place and purpose in the world phenomenologically. When one or more of our senses becomes mediated by technology or environmental influences, our perceptions shift and the way in which we interpret the world is transformed.;The goal of this project is an examination of three things: first, the social implications and psychological impact of images, the conventions of modern images and the mode of human visual perception; second, how people with impaired visual senses demonstrate a shift and relocation of their experiential world through all of their senses in very unexpected ways; third, new production possibilities of the auditory sense: sound image as an invisible and infinite imagination. The project combines sequential modes of audio-visual presentation through video projections, sensory cognizance and wearable computing to simulate the experience of these shifting and surprising modes of perception.;Keywords.
