In the workplace,employee creativity refers to the original ideas related to products,services,processes or business models.Employee creativity is the cornerstone of the organizational innovation.Under the current rapid development of technology,every company is concerned about improving organizational creativity.The key to improving organizational creativity is the improvement of employee creativity.Therefore,research on employee creativity is necessary.Because employees with higher levels of curiosity are more willing to take risks and are good at dealing with uncertainty,they are more likely to be creative and put ideas into practice.At the same time,employees with high degrees of curiosity often actively engage in learning in the face of uncertainty.In the knowledge-intensive environment,curiosity plays a positive role in creativity.Therefore,this research studies the specific path of curiosity affecting creativity with the help of learning behavior.In order to study the relationship between curiosity and creativity more clearly,the study further distinguishes curiosity into I type Curiosity and D type Curiosity.I type curiosity means that employees show curiosity out of enthusiasm for learning,often accompanied by happiness;D type curiosity is the curiosity of employees who are deprived of knowledge gaps,often accompanied by anxiety.At the same time,the study further divides learning behavior into exploration and exploitation.Exploration is a breakthrough attempt on existing knowledge,often closely related to factors such as changes,high risks,experiments,flexibility,new discoveries,creation and so on.While exploitation is the refinement and enhancement of existing knowledge,often closely related to factors such as choice,output orientation,high efficiency,implementation,and execution.The paper selects employees of enterprises and institutions in Shanghai,Jiangsu Province and Shandong Province as the research object,and then analyzes the data of 376 useful employee surveys.It is found that I type curiosity of employees positively influences creativity through the mediator of exploration,D type curiosity of employees positively influences creativity through the mediator of exploitation,and both mediating effects are negatively influenced by perceived coworker creativity expectations.The paper enriches the theoretical mechanism of curiosity and creativity,and studies the different mechanisms of different types of curiosity affecting creativity through the learning path.Also,the paper may help employees and managers improve the individual creativity and organizational innovation.
