In the context of the "anti-globalization" economic policy of the United States,with the promotion of "the Belt and Road" initiative,China and Japan are embracing new opportunities for cooperation in the manufacturing sector.Therefore,it is necessary and practical to further study the manufacturing industry of China and Japan on the existing basis.Based on the input and output data of China and Japan from 2005 to 2017,this paper analyzes the impact mechanism of productive service input on total factor productivity of Chinese and Japanese manufacturing industries.By comparing the influence mechanism of the two countries,the advantages and disadvantages of China's manufacturing industry are more comprehensively analyzed.It provides sufficient theoretical support for the third party market cooperation between China and Japan under the framework of" the Belt and Road ",so as to put forward more targeted policy Suggestions for the future development of China's manufacturing industry.In the theoretical foundation part,this paper explains the influence mechanism of productive service input on manufacturing industry from three aspects:specialization effect,competition effect and technology spillover effect.Through the analysis of the scale,structure and total factor productivity of productive service input in the manufacturing industry of China and Japan,The results show that:China's manufacturing production service input increases significantly,while Japan's fluctuates slightly;Japan's manufacturing servitization level is significantly higher than China's;In China,the total factor productivity of the manufacturing industry and its decomposition factor technical efficiency and technological progress increased significantly,while in Japan,the total factor productivity and technical progress both decreased,the technical efficiency increased slightly.In the empirical analysis,this paper adopts the systematic GMM method to analyze the influence mechanism of productive service input on total factor productivity of manufacturing industry,and also investigates the influence of trade openness,R&D input,per capita fixed assets and total output value of manufacturing industry on it.The results show that:(1)The input of productive services has a significant positive effect on total factor productivity in China,but a negative effect in Japan;(2)The labor-intensive,capital-intensive and knowledge-intensive productive service inputs have a positive impact on total factor productivity of Chinese manufacturing industry by improving technological efficiency,and a negative impact on total factor productivity of Japanese manufacturing industry by inhibiting technological progress;(3)The manufacturing scale in both China and Japan has a significant positive impact on total factor productivity,and the main mechanism is to promote technological progress.Combined with the results of theoretical basis,current situation analysis and empirical analysis,this paper draws the following conclusions:(1)The manufacturing capacity of Japan is limited and the level of servitization is high.When the output is greater than the optimal value of efficiency,increasing the input of productive services in the manufacturing industry will inhibit technological progress and thus reduce total factor productivity.(2)the main function of productive service input is to optimize technological efficiency.At present,the main driving force for China's manufacturing upgrading is technological efficiency optimization,while the main driving force for Japan's manufacturing upgrading is technological progress.(3)productive service input can play a role in promoting technological progress of manufacturing industry as a kind of high-level factor input,and the endogenous driving force of technological progress of manufacturing industry comes from manufacturing industry itself.Finally,according to the research conclusion,this paper proposes suggestions for China:improving the servitization level of the manufacturing industry,promoting the coordinated development of the manufacturing industry and productive service,building a sound industrial ecosystem,expanding the channels for the cultivation of specialized talents and deepening the development of the domestic market.
