The“Belt and Road”initiative has gradually developed into an international consensus since its proposal. This initiative seeks to build a multilateral cooperation mechanism, realize trade facilitation.and promote economic and trade cooperation and exchanges among countries along the Belt and Road.As the pillar industry of the national economy, manufacturing industry holds a pivotal position in the trade of goods between China and the Belt and Road countries. In view of this, based on the panel data of countries along the“Belt and Road”from 2009 to 201 7,this paper explored the relationship between China’s export of manufacturing products to Belt and Road countries and the level of trade facilitation,so as to provide research basis for the enhancement of trade facilitation along the Belt and Road and the expansion of China’s manufacturing export. This paper is divided into six chapters:The first chapter introduced the research background, research significance, research methods, and research framework. It also pointed out the innovation points and shortcomings of this article. The second chapter is a literature review, which analyzed the existing literature from three aspects:trade facilitation, trading among the Belt and Road countries, and China’s manufacturing trade, providing reference and more ideas for the research in the following part of this paper. The third chapter made an analysis on China’s export of manufacturing products to the countries along the Belt and Road.First, the author defined the scope of“manufacturing products”and“countries along the Belt and Road”,then conducted analysis from the three aspects of overall scale, goods structure, and trade area.Statistical data were used to describe in detail the characteristics and development trends of China’s exports of manufacturing products to the Belt and Road countries. The fourth chapter made a calculation of the trade facilitation level between China and the countries along the Belt and Road. The author established a comprehensive evaluation system containing 4 first-class indicators and 27 second-class indicators. The weighting of indicator was determined through principal component analysis and a trade facilitation evaluation model was set up.On this basis, the levels of trade facilitation between China and 91 countries along the Belt and Road from 2009 to 2017 was calculated, and a comparative analysis was conducted at the overall level, regional level, and the level of major trading partners. The fifth chapter is an empirical analysis of the impact of trade facilitation on China’s export of manufacturing products. This paper adopted the extended trade gravity model to explore the impact of trade facilitation along the Belt and Road and other factors on China’s export of manufacturing goods.Heterogeneity analysis was performed from three perspectives:sub-indicators,product categories.and country categories. The sixth chapter is the conclusion and recommendation part.It summarized the research results of this paper and provided policy suggestions on how to enhance the level of regional trade facilitation along the Belt and Road to promote China’s manufacturing export.Through research and analysis, this paper reached the following conclusions:the average level of trade facilitation among the Belt and Road countries is low.with great variations from one country to another.Countries in west Asia,Northeast Asia,Southeast Asia, and Europe show higher trade facilitation levels.while the levels of other areas need to be further enhanced.China’s comprehensive score on trade facilitation has been on the rise for many years. In 2017 China’s score of trade facilitation was 0.6386,which showed moderate degree of facilitation. From the results of the empirical research, the enhancement of trade facilitation level of a certain country along the Belt and Road can significantly promote its trade volume of manufacturing import with China. When other factors are kept the same, for every 1%increase in the trade facilitation level of a country along the Belt and Road,China’s manufacturing export to this country will grow by about 0.64%.The impact of this positive influence is second only to the promotional effect of economic development of the importing country. The regression results of each sub-indicator show that logistics efficiency and facilities, along with customs measures and border management have greater promotional effects, with coefficients at 0.61 79 and 0.5635.respectively.As for product categories,high-tech manufacturing products are the most sensitive to trade facilitation. In addition,in the four categories of countries with different income levels, the positive impact of trade facilitation was most felt on the countries with high income levels.
