"The Belt and Road"is an important measure for Chinese government to promote the development of regional integration along the line and establish more equitable and orderly international relations. An important task in its construction process is to realize the linkage of infrastructure and promote the trade facilitation.Trade facilitation,as an important measure to streamline and unify trade processes, can reduce the costs generated in the process of global transactions and promote the free exchange of goods and services.Since it was put forward,it has been a hot topic in the economic field. It provides new ideas for trade exchanges and trade cooperation among countries. Therefore, this article mainly discusses how to improve the level of trade between China%and other countries along the belt by improving the level of trade facilitation.Based onthe extended gravity model, this paper selects 40 major trading partners along the"the Belt and Road"during 2012-2016 as an example to empirically study the relationship between the trade facilitation level of major trading partner countries and the volume of China's import and export trade, aiming to seek the effective ways to promote China's trade from the perspective of trade facilitation. This paper is mainly divided into six chapters:The first chapter introduces the research background, significance, innovative ideas and deficiencies. The second chapter sorts out relevant literatures by scholars at home and abroad from four dimensions:some research related to"the Belt and Road",trade facilitation, trade facilitation under the background of "the Belt and Road" and influencing factors of bilateral trade level, which lays a theoretical foundation for further research. The third chapter analyzes the trade characteristics of China and other foreign countries along the line, determining the range of countries along the line according to the information of the“the Belt and Road”official website, and then analyzing the countries along the line from the perspective of geographic location and per capita income. In terms of the analysis framework, this paper first analyzes the economic development of countries along the“Belt and Road”based on the latest data of 2017.The modules are mainly based on the standard of per capita income, dividing into high-income countries, upper middle-income countries and lower middle-income countries.Taking into account the particularities of high-income countries, this paper then further subdivides the high-income countries into energy-based and non-energy-based types, and then analyzed from the sight of population size and structure, industrial structure, and the degree of openness.Secondly, this paper analyzes the trade situation between China and other countries along "the Belt and Road",mainly analyzing the total trade volume between 2012 and 2016,and studying the main body of trade. Finally, this study analyzes the trade status of the sub-regions,and the research is carried out from the two dimensions of trade volume and trade subject. The fourth chapter focuses on the level of trade facilitation between China and other countries along "the Belt and Road".Based on the research results of domestic and foreign scholars, this paper uses the Principal Component Analysis(PCA)method to obtain a comprehensive evaluation formula of trade facilitation level, covering 4 first-level indicators and the subordinate 14 second-level indicators, then calculating the level of trade facilitation in China and the 40 countries along"the Belt and Road"from 2012 to 2016,also classifying these countries based on their trade facilitation. The fifth chapter examines the impact of trade facilitation level on the bilateral trade volume between China and other countries along the Belt and Road, through Stata12.0 software. The last chapter is the conclusions and suggestions. This paper summarizes the results based on the research, and proposing relevant policy recommendations from the perspective of trade facilitation and the national political risk.Based on the analysis of the full text, the conclusions which based on the analysis from this paper are as follows:first, the trade facilitation level calculated by Principal Component Analysis reveals that more than 70%of the countries within the Belt and Road are inconvenient between 2012-2016,and the average trade facilitation level of China is 0.632 in the 5 years, which is at a general convenience level. Therefore, there is a long way to go in the work of improving trade facilitation level of the countries.Secondly, from the results of empirical research, improving the level of trade facilitation and reducing the political risk of the host country have a significant effect on the bilateral trade volume between China and the countries within the Belt and Road,if increase them by 1%respectively,then the bilateral trade level will increase by 0.73%and 0.87%separately.It can be seen that upgrading the level of trade facilitation and stabilizing the domestic political environment can be the focus in the construction of the Belt and Road. From the regression results of four aspects of the trade facilitation index system,e-commerce plays the most significant role in promoting trade facilitation.Therefore,e-commerce should be the top priority in promoting trade facilitation. Finally, the author puts forward relevant suggestions from five aspects:strengthening infrastructure construction, deepening customs cooperation, standardizing and improving rules and regulations, actively developing e-commerce and reducing domestic political risks.
