The economic globalization and the knowledge-based economy have a profound impact on enterprises' development in China.One of the most essential elements in enterprise competition is the human resources.And managing human resources to reach full potential is becoming the focus of enterprises' development.On this occasion,it is inevitable to study the performance management theory in line with enterprises' own characteristics,and then to undertake improvements based on their defects and demands.Taking the S Company as the research object,the thesis investigates its performance management features and employs the Balanced Score Card(BSC)to optimize and redesign its performance management system.This thesis first consults a large amount of both domestic and foreign literature and reviews the theory of performance management and its history of development and application.Simultaneously,literature review is conducted on the BSC,one of the basic methods applied in performance management.In particular,the thesis dwells on the features,advantages and disadvantages and the applying process of the BSC.Then,the related questionnaires are designed in accordance with the status quo of the company's performance appraisal.On the basis of summarizing the questionnaires,the thesis analyzes the present situation of performance appraisal of different management levels,and comments on the existing problems in view of the theory.Furthermore,aiming at the unscientific limitations on the S company's performance management,the thesis,from the perspective of strategic development,adopts the SWOT method to dissect its advantages and disadvantages and development tendency,and on that basis distributes performance appraisal indicators to all departments,management authorities and employees.Therefore,the performance management system of the S company is redesigned by way of the BSC.In addition,the thesis analyzes the designing principle and process and the BSC designs at different management levels,in which Analytical Hierarchy Process(AHP)method is adopted to evaluate the weight of all indicators scientifically.In the end,the related measures of ensuring the use of the re-established performance appraisal system are illustrated.With integrating theory with practice to analyze and solve the real problems in the S company,the thesis is of significant referential value for service enterprises to manage performance.
