The growing business relationships between China and Arabic countries attracted several Arabic investments to flow to China.A significant part of these investments is active in the Chinese business settings through project-based enterprises modality.Among other facets of the Arabic investments influx to China is the reality of multicultural working environment occurrence as the Arabic business entities integrate employees from Arabic countries with colleagues who are mainly Chinese nationals in a multicultural working context.This research dedicated to explore and investigate the relationship between the employees' cultural competency and their work performance in a cross-cultural working environment of the Arabic project-based entities' in China.The research presents relevant aspects of the Arabic and Chinese cul-tures and their main determinantal factors in terms of employees' behaviors and thinking perspectives.Along with that,the research also outlines the in-fluence of the Arabic and Chinese culture in the business settings practice generally according to the prevalent cultural dimensions models.The theoretical framework of the research stands on the premises that the cultural competency of the employees influences the dynamic of employee communication and work climate,which believed to have a si-nificant contribution to their work performance.The difference in languaege,communication styles,culture practice,values,and beliefs create a cultural gap between the employees from varied cultures backgrounds.Therefore,this research framed to address the questions of how the culture competency factors influence em-ployees' communication and their mutual trust and how the communication and trust building factors contribute to the employees' performance?And to which level the cultural competency is detrimental to the employees' overall performance of Arabic projects in Chinese business environment?.The research gap emerges from the scarcity of studies that explore the culture competency dynamics in Arabic project entities in the Chinese business environment.The research aims to unpack how cultural competency factors namely culture attitude,awareness and knowledge influence multicultural employees' communication and mutual trust in the project-based working settings and how that relate to their work performance.To achieve that,we used a structural electronic-based survey to reach to the Arabic project-based entities employees and collected 308 responses.The gathered data consolidated and analyzed initially through descriptive statistical analysis to demonstrate the data patterns.Following to that,the correlation among the study variable was examined through regression analysis,factor analysis,plus structural equation model(SEM).The research analysis findings indicate that there is a relationship between the cultural competence from one side and the employees' communication level and mutual trust from the other side.The findings also include that there is a relationship between communication and trust among the employees and their work performance.Besides,the findings point out that there is a relationship between the cultural awareness,knowledge,and attitude from one side and the employees' performance from the other side.The analysis comes with 95%confidence level,and all the measured hypotheses in the study were significant.The research contributes to the topic of the cultural competency influence in employees' performance in working context that is not studied enough in prior studies.The research findings provide an insight into the cultural competency among Arabic and Chinese employees and how it calibrates their performance.Along with that,the research findings provide an understanding and vision to different relevant recipients including the project managers,academics,and researchers who are interested in the cultural competency,multicultural employees' communication,multicultural employees' mutual trust in the working environment.Ultimately,the research introduces a prospective notion for the topic with recommendations and potential improvements mechanisms associated with the subject.
