As socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era,the material needs of the people have been greatly satisfied,and the need to persue a better life has been steadily increasing.As the two major goals of knowledge workers in their lives and career developments,happiness and career success have a direct impact on knowledge workers'own mental health development,job satisfaction,organizational performance and talent competitiveness.More and more phenomena and researches have shown that successful people do not necessarily feel happy.How to help employees to choose a career that truly meets their inner calling in the era of borderless career so that they can improve work happiness and gain career success has become an important issue for enterprises and society urgently need to study.Although there have been some researches of calling in western academic circles,there is a lack of research on calling among Chinese knowledge workers as well as the influence of work happiness on the relationship between calling and career success,the mechanism of the interaction between calling and career success needs to be further studied.Based on the self-determination theory,this research builds an intermediary role model of work happiness in calling and career success,and probes into the differences of calling,work happiness,career success in gender,age,marriage,and education.For the first time,we use work happiness as the mediator variable to explore the mechanism of calling to career success.Through questionnaire survey to 416 knowledge workers from 24 provinces and regions nationwide,we use SPSS 19.0 software to have descriptive statistical analysis,correlation analysis and regression analysis of the data to explore the influence of work happiness on the relationship between calling and career success.The main conclusions are:(1)Gender and education have no significant influence on the calling,work happiness and career success of knowledge workers.Age and marriage have significant influence on the calling,work happiness and career success of knowledge workers.The older the employees,the higher the level of calling,work happiness and career success of them;the work happiness and career success of married knowledge workers are significantly higher than those of unmarried employees,and the calling of married knowledge workers is significantly lower than that of unmarried employees.(2)There is a positive correlation among calling,work happiness and career success of knowledge workers.The calling of knowledge workers has a significant positive effect on work happiness and career success and their dimensions.Work happiness has a significant positive effect on career success and its dimensions.(3)The work happiness of knowledge workers has a significant intermediary role between calling and career success.Work happiness has a significant mediating effect between professional calling and objective career success,and has a significant intermediary role between calling and subjective career success.Finally,based on the above research conclusions,suggestions for improving employees' work happiness and career success are proposed from the individual and organizational levels.There are 4 figures,51 tables,and 80 references.
