Spatial Agglomeration,Spillover Effect And The Coordination Development Of Chengdu-Chongqing Urban Group

Abstract/Summary:
On March 30,2016,the executive meeting of the State Council adopted the Chengdu-Chongqing Urban Group Development Plan,which aims to build Chengdu-Chongqing Urban Group and lead the new urbanization and agricultural modernization in the west.The development of Chengdu Chongqing urban group is related to the development of the western region,the development of the Yangtze River economic belt,and the construction of new urbanization.It has a very important impact on the overall development of China’s western region.With the new economic geography incorporating spatial factors into the framework of general equilibrium analysis,the study of the difference of geospatial effects on regional economic growth has become a hot issue in academic circles.Based on economic growth theory,unbalanced growth theory,and spatial interaction theory,this paper explores the spatial agglomeration effect and spatial spillover effect of economic growth in 139 counties of Chengdu-Chongqing urban group from 2007 to 2016 by using spatial econometric method,and then uses coupling degree model to measure spatial agglomeration effect,spillover effect and Chengdu-Chongqing urban group effect.The coupling degree between the economic growth of urban group,and finally draw conclusions and put forward relevant policy recommendations.Firstly,the exploratory spatial data analysis method is used to analyze the economic development of Chengdu-Chongqing urban group.It is found that the Moran’s I of the Chengdu-Chongqing urban group per capita GDP is significantly greater than 0,and the local Moran’s I is also significantly greater than 0.The positive spatial correlation of economic development is significant,and the agglomeration phenomenon is prominent.Secondly,the Segal model is chosen to measure the global spatial agglomeration effect of Chengdu-Chongqing urban group.The results show that the global spatial agglomeration effect value is 0.328062,the county cities in Chengdu-Chongqing urban group have significant positive agglomeration effect on the whole,and the agglomeration effect has a significant role in promoting the economy.Then,geographically weighted regression is used to measure the agglomeration effect value in the local area,and the local agglomeration effect value is visualized on the map.From the visualization map of the local spatial agglomeration effect,the spatial distribution law of agglomeration effect is obtained: the high agglomeration effect value is mainly distributed in the core area of Chengdu and the core area of Chongqing,and the agglomeration effect value of the core area of Chengdu maintains a high state all the time.Potential,the regional scope did not expand outward,on the contrary,it shrank.The agglomeration effect value of the core region of Chongqing has also maintained a high trend,and the region has also expanded,driving the agglomeration effect value of the surrounding region to increase.Thirdly,the spatial lag model and spatial error model are selected to measure the spatial spillover effect of Chengdu-Chongqing urban group as a whole.The results show that the overall spatial spillover effect value of each county in Chengdu-Chongqing urban group is 0.169301,and the spillover effect promotes the economy significantly.Then the local spatial spillover effect value of Chengdu-Chongqing urban group is measured by the geographically weighted regression model,and then the local spatial spillover effect value is visualized on the map,and the spillover effect is obtained from the visualized map of the local spatial effect.Spatial distribution law of effect value: The high spillover effect value mainly distributes in the core area of Chengdu and Chongqing,and the spillover effect decreases gradually with the distance from Chongqing and Chengdu.Fourthly,the coupling degree between the local spatial agglomeration effect value,the local spillover effect value and the per capita GDP of each city in Chengdu-Chongqing urban group is calculated by using the coupling degree model.The results show that the overall regional coupling degree of Chengdu-Chongqing urban group is between 0.2890 and 0.4196 in 2007-2016,which is relatively low,and the level of regional synergistic development is relatively low.The coupling degree of Chongqing core region is slightly higher than that of Chengdu core region,which indicates that the synergistic development of Chongqing is better than that of Chengdu.Finally,it summarizes the conclusions and puts forward relevant policy recommendations.According to the comparative advantage,the main functions and industrial layout of each city should be positioned,and the coordinating agencies of Chengdu and Chongqing should be established to promote the division of labor and cooperation among cities,so as to avoid the vicious competition between the two core growth poles of Chengdu and Chongqing;two or three sub-central cities should be cultivated and developed between Chengdu and Chongqing;the plan of talent introduction and cultivation should be optimized to give full play to the two cities of Chengdu and Chongqing.The advantages of human resources enrichment can improve the contribution rate of science and technology and innovation to high-quality economic growth.
