Banana is an important economic crop,Guangdong Province is the main banana producing area in China.However,with the occurrence of extreme natural disasters,its production is extremely vulnerable to the impact of meteorological disasters,resulting in large fluctuations in output.In 2016,Guangdong province has launched a pilot insurance scheme for banana,lychee,longan and papaya,However,from the implementation results,there are two cold situations.Meanwhile,the agricultural weather index insurance has become tried out and extended successfully in many regions at home and abroad,but so far,Guangdong Province has not carried out the trial work on weather index insurance.Therefore,this paper introduces the situation of banana cultivation in Guangdong Province,analyzes the reasons of the contradiction between supply and demand of banana agricultural insurance and the necessity and feasibility of developing banana weather index insurance.Finally,taking the banana freeze as an example,this paper introduces the principle of the design of banana weather index insurance products and the difficulties faced by Guangdong Province in carrying out weather index insurance,and draws on domestic and foreign experience to provide reference suggestions for the development of banana weather index insurance in Guangdong Province.On the basis of this,the paper puts forward some suggestions for the development of banana weather index insurance in Guangdong Province,including strengthening government support,improving product design,increasing publicity,innovating insurance products and sales channels,and strengthening Talent building.This study fits the actual situation in the province and fills the gap of regional research.
