The competition between companies nowadays is mainly focused on product and service,which rely heavily on research and development.Therefore,those companies hoping to get an upper hand in the competition have to pay close attention to the performance management.of the R&D units.There are difficulties in the performance management of typical R&D units that focus on knowledge,not only because these staff as well as the management of them have their own characteristics,but also they are heavily influenced by the era of Internet + and self-management.This paper begins with a brief introduction of the theories and approaches of performance management,which are then applied to the case of JX Company.It analyzes the current state,problems and causes of their performance management of R&D unit and provides the goals,principles and detailed solution to the improvement of this system as well as the relative measures that can be taken to improve the human resource management.This paper bases itself on the case of JX Company and discusses the re-design of performance management system.It provides suggestions and advices on the improvement of performance management in both JX Company and other companies in the industry.
