In recent years, the increasing exposure of serious child sexual assault and harassment has drawn wide attention. However, truly effective measures and interventions are still very rare, especially for left-behind children living in rural areas. The information-blocked,conservative-minded environment and the lack of relative courses and parental care all make these children unaware of their physical development, leaving them vulnerable to sexual abuses. In view of the current situation of rural left-behind children's sex education, this study takes the rural left-behind children in cas the research object, and uses the cluster sampling method to conduct questionnaire surveys and individual interviews.Through our data,we carried out needs assessment to understand the necessary of sex education components and feasible social work methods.Based on cognitive behavior theory, ecosystem theory and empowerment theory,a sexual education group intervention method that meets the rural left-behind children needs is proposed.Research shows, children in C Village Hope Primary School have serious deficiencies in many aspects of sexual knowledge. In specific, they are lack of basic health knowledge, unaware of the physical and psychological change after reaching their puberty, therefore not ready for their body changes. They have weak gender awareness and are not paying enough attention to the scale of communication between boys and girls. They also have troubles distinguishing sexual harassments from normal behaviors, cannot protect themselves from being hurt properly. Our group activity was based on the above findings. We organized eight group activities in three phases. In the first phase of the group work, combined with the ecosystem theory,we focused on strengthening the connections within the group;the second phase included three group activities.According to the cognitive behavior theory,we focused on deepening the members' understanding of each part of their body.Through the understanding of the physiological differences between men and women, the physiological and psychological changes in puberty are properly viewed. The third phase of the group activities is divided into three activities, relying on the cognitive behavior theory and the theory of empowerment, leading the members to form a more mature gender awareness. We taught them how to identify sexual assaults,in order to enhance their ability to prevent sexual assault, and to protect their own safety. In the last phase of the group activities, the above contents were summarized and strengthened. The research results show that, the sex education group we organized for rural left-behind children has quickly improved the sexual knowledge reserve of the group members, strengthened the awareness of self-security and enhanced their ability to protect themselves.Through practical works,we not only enriched the social work experience of rural left-behind children's sex education, broke the work mode of single-sex intervention,we also applied the concept of"anti-sexual assault"into the social work intervention activities, and improved the ability of the prevention of sexual assaults.
