| Equality between men and women is a basic national policy of our country,the most important content is that men and women have equal rights and obligations to achieve gender equality.Teaching material is an important way for the transmission of gender value orientation,and the correct gender concept conveyed in the teaching material plays an active role in the formation of gender consciousness in junior high school students.while gender imbalance will lead to students’ gender stereotype and gender prejudice,which violates the level of education.Therefore,the geography textbooks should be scientific and authoritative in the presentation of social gender roles.However,there is a lack of emphasis on gender value orientation in Chinese geography textbooks.Based on the social gender theory,this paper choice the junior middle school geography textbooks of the latest People’s Education Press(13 Edition)and the Taiwan Hanlin Press(16 Edition)as the research object,and compares the contents and characteristics of the two sides of the two straits textbooks and the two in the geography curriculum from the three dimensions of geography curriculum,element selection and role analysis.The paper summarizes the shortcomings of gender value orientation in geography textbook,elaborates on its reason,and puts forward some appropriate suggestions for the design and implementation of junior high school geography teaching materials in the future.This paper can be divided into five parts:The first two parts briefly describe the background and significance of the research,summarize the research status at home and abroad and also a review,and clarify the research objectives,innovation points,research methods and technical routes.Further analysis the four concepts:Geography textbook,Gender,Gender role and Gender role stereotype,and expounds the three theoretical bases:gender schema theory,the social gender theory and the basic theory of geography textbook compilation.The third part from the geography curriculum,the frequency of characters and role analysis of three dimensions,combined with quantitative and qualitative analysis methods focusing on the contents and characteristics of the two sides of the two sides of the teaching materials and the characteristics of the two.The results show that there was gender imbalance in both sexes on the proportion of men and women.The frequency and proportion of men appeared higher than that of women.In comparison between in the "division of labor",there is little difference in the proportion distribution of male and female roles or the occupational types covered by cross-strait textbooks.In comparison of "activity scenario" and "ability expression" between male and female,the choice of characters in Hanlin version takes account of gender balance.In addition,the male role in both sides of the Straits is dominant in the "outstanding persons" and "the negative characters".The fourth part explores the four reasons of gender stereotype and gender bias in the geography textbooks of the two sides,respectively is:physical gender factors,traditional gender stereotypes and gender consciousness,teaching material makers related departments attention and policy support.Secondly,in view of the problems existing in the teaching material,three suggestions are put forward:To break through the traditional gender concepts and to strengthen the consciousness of gender equality;To enhance the consciousness of editors and to permeate gender equality in textbooks;Gender equality should be included in the textbook examination and policy support.The last part summarizes and sorts out the main conclusions,and expounds the problems that need to be studied further,and puts forward the expectation for the future development of the geography textbooks in junior middle school. |
