Geography textbooks are very important teaching media in geography teaching.Excellent geography textbooks can better present geography knowledge,so that teachers can better teach geography knowledge and students can learn geography courses. With the advancement of educational reform, the times have put forward new requirements for the compilation of textbooks.Selecting the representative textbooks of Hunan Educational Press on both sides of the Taiwan Straits and the first edition of compulsory geography textbooks for senior high schools in South Taiwan, and through the quantitative model N=a·S/T+(1-a)·G/T constructed by Shining Middle School, the two editions of textbooks are compared quantitatively according to different parts of knowledge guided by the geography curriculum standard(outline).Through interviews with teachers and students, the following conclusions are drawn:From the point of view of the content of geography textbooks, the two editions of geography textbooks have selected five elements of physical geography, including "topography","climate","hydrology","soil" and "biology".However, the Hunan Educational Press begins with "geoscience","natural environment and human activities" and ends with the southern edition. It begins with "map" and "geographic data".The contents of the two editions of textbooks have their own characteristics. From the point of view of the difficulty of geography textbooks, the breadth, depth, comparable depth and difficulty of some textbooks of "Geoscience" in the textbooks of Hunan Educational Press are relatively large. The second is "natural environment and human activities".The breadth and depth of the five major physical geography elements are not different as a whole, and the difficulty of some textbooks of "climate" is obviously lower than that of other departments. In the Nanyi Edition, the "topography" and "climate" textbooks are of great breadth and depth, with relatively small differences in the content of each part.Comparing the two editions of textbooks,Hunan Educational Press pays less attention to the five geographical elements than Nanyi Edition.Among the five specific geographical elements, the differences between them are mainly in the two parts of "topography" and "climate".The breadth, depth and time of the "topography" part of the textbook of Hunan Educational Press are obviously less than that of the "Nanyi Edition",the breadth and depth of the "climate" part of the textbook is obviously less than that of the " Nanyi Edition",while the time of the textbook is not very different, which leads to the comparable breadth, comparable depth and difficulty of the part of Hunan Educational Press is obviously less than that of the "Nanyi Edition".According to the results of comparison, further interviews were conducted with the teachers and students who used the textbook of Hunan Educational Press, and suggestions were put forward for the use of the textbook of physical geography in high schools of Hunan Educational Press.
