| Body tattoos have been a symbol of primitive beliefs since ancient times,a respect for ancestors and the power of nature.In China,18 of the recognized ethnic minorities have the custom of tattooing.They use indigo or bile to tattoo patterns on their legs,chest,back and arms.From the perspective of ancient aesthetics,the traditional tattoo has rich and colorful patterns,and the pattern of the tattoo contains profound cultural connotation,which has resulted in many customs and ceremony scenes related to the tattoo.Minority tattoo is a special decorative art form of human body,is a wonderful product of ancient national art.However,the impact of urbanization and the trend of globalization are changing the daily production and living habits of ethnic minorities and their attitudes towards their bodies.At the same time,modern tattoo is developing on an unprecedented scale,and is increasingly accepted by people as a unique way of life,a not niche subculture;However,traditional tattoos are facing potential extinction-despite the fact that ethnic minorities once considered tattoos to be the most basic part of their ethnic identity.Among these tattooed ethnic groups,the Dai ethnic group is one of the most deeply rooted in the tradition of tattooing and has the largest proportion of the population in China(1.26 million).For Dai tattoo,its ritualistic,patterned,functional and aesthetic features are an inseparable part of its artistic characteristics.The social significance of tattoo is no less than its artistic significance in Dai society.The Dai tattoo represents the Dai ethnic for men and women of other concepts and distinguish,represents the Dai people’s self-declaration,showed the living environment of the Dai people,expresses the Dai nationality people of faith and pursuit.Dai tattoo itself has three attributes,as the artistic attribute of the original body art,as the social attribute of the traditional Dai tattoo custom,and as the cultural attribute of the intangible cultural heritage of ethnic minorities.The main research part of this paper is the field survey of 5 Dai primitive villages in the olive dam Dai garden in JingHong city,Xishuangbanna,Yunnan province.The rest is a review and observation of ethnography.Based on the triple identity attributes of Dai tattoos,the Dai tattoos were recorded and studied comprehensively through field sampling:1.From the perspective of artistic anthropology,the designs of Dai tattoos were collected and recorded in the field,and the design was studied.2.From the perspective of cultural sociology,through oral history interviews with tattoo witnesses,we can understand how Dai tattoo changes with the development of society,and discuss the influence of Dai social change on the production and life of Dai people by combining the theory of social change and hot social issues.3.From the perspective of ethnology,discuss the condition of inheritance of folk culture of Dai tattoo,and discuss the protection and inheritance of Dai tattoo through the comparative study of Dai art inheritance. |
