A Report On The Translation Practice Of Piseecki's "Traveling In China From 1874 To 1875"

This report is written based on the practice of translating the first chapter of Traveling in China in 1874--1875 in Russian into Chinese.This work presents travel notes of the Russian traveler and artist P.Piassetsky,who visited China with a Russian delegation in the 1970 s and records his wonderful and colorful memories about the journey in the note.Since the flourishing of the sinology abroad from the late century in China,Traveling in China in 1874--1875 plays an important role in the researches on Russian Sinology,which elicits some cultural significance and historical of author’s translation practice.This work was published in 1880,and there was no Chinese version.According to the translation theory and comparison of similar works,the author summarizes the problems encountered in the translation process and the corresponding solutions by case analysis methods.The translation practice adopts strategies including translating proper nouns,choosing the meaning of the word,amplification,word conversion,division and adjustment of word order.The purpose of this translation practice is to increase the level of personal translation by summarizing the experience of translation practice,and to provide some reference materials and assistance for the same type of translation work,and also to contribute to the study of Russian Sinology in the future.
