Research On The Characteristics Of Current Medical Disputes In Hospitals Of Traditional Chinese Medicine In Beijing Area And Countermeasures

Background:Our country is now in a high-frequency period of medical disputes.People's concern for health has always made hospitals as the focus of the public attention.Traditional chinese medicine hospitals though have made a great achievement for our health system,but still not received enough attention in preventing and dealing with medical disputes.The characteristics and causes of medical disputes in traditional chinese medicine hospitals have not been effectively summarized and concluded.Objective:To investigate and understand the real situation of medical disputes in traditional chinese medicine hospitals in Beijing,summarize the characteristics and causes of medical disputes in traditional chinese medicine hospitals,and put forward the main preventive points and corresponding appropriate countermeasures based on the current situation and characteristics of medical disputes in traditional chinese medicine hospitals.Methods:Via questionnaire survey,depth-interviews and on-the-spot investigations,this study makes a thorough investigation about the accurate current situation of medical disputes in traditional chinese medicine hospitals in Beijing,and combining the reasons of the medical disputes to find the appropriate solutions.Questionnaire survey:600 medical staffs from 20 hospitals of traditional chinese medicine in Beijing were selected by random sampling without repetition to investigate the accurate situation and causes of medical disputes.Depth-interviews:Through the depth-interviews with the doctors who have medical disputes,the interview content is about the accurate current situation of medical disputes and how to avoid and reduce the occurrence of medical disputes.On-the-spot investigations:Pretending to be a patient and sneaking into those 20 selected traditional chinese medicine hospital to experience the processes of medical treatments,to explore whether the responsibility of patients and their families for medical disputes and the psychological changes of patients and their families in the process of medical treatment are the main factors leading to medical disputes or aggravate the severity of medical disputes.Results:In this one-year-period investigation,there were 112 medical disputes among the 600 doctors.The number of medical disputes that did not infringe on patients' right of health was higher than those that infringed on patients' right of health.Medical disputes caused by traditional chinese medicine account for nearly half of the total.The incidence of medical disputes among doctors with senior professional titles is significantly higher than that the other professional titles.Patients with higher knowledge-level are more likely to be a part of medical disputes,and obviously prefer out-of-hospital ways to resolve their medical disputes.The probability of medical disputes among doctors without medical liability insurance is significantly higher than the doctors with medical liability insurance.The probability of violent medical disputes among doctors without medical liability insurance is also significantly higher than the doctors with medical liability insurance.Conclusion:After this survey and research,it is found that the causes and the solutions of medical disputes in the traditional chinese medicine hospitals are directly related to the quality of doctors and the profession of patients,and have distinctive characteristics of traditional chinese medicine.To preventing medical disputes requires the joint efforts of doctors,patients and society.Especially the doctors need to pay much more attention to doctor-patient communication besides the improvement of medical technology.For the prevention and solution of medical disputes in the traditional chinese medicine hospitals,we should be fully thoughtful about the theory of traditional chinese medicine and specific traditional diagnoses and treatments.We cannot simply solve all the problems in the same way,which would efficient reduce the incidence of medical disputes.Expanding the medical liability insurance can achieve a win-win achievement of protecting the common interests of doctors and patients,and the insurance policy and the characteristics of traditional chinese medicine must be carefully thinked about.
