Recently,driven by the global modularity revolution in the automobile industry,China's auto industry has also begun the process of modularization.This new development mode will provide new opportunities and challenges for Chinese auto manufacturers.Therefore,studying modularity is especially important.At present,the academia has done a lot of research on the theory and application of automotive modularization,but there are few studies on the value creation path for modular development of automobile manufacturers.Therefore,the study of value creation path for modular development is important.It is of great significance to improve the relevant theory of modular value creation and promote the development of the automotive industry in China.Using the case study method,we selected the Toyota Motor Corporation as the object,and in-depth analysis of its value creation path in the implementation of the modular development process.The research found that the modular development of auto manufacturing enterprises has improved the basic capabilities of the company in two aspects,component universalization capabilities and product deconstruction capabilities.These capabilities have also improved the company's cost control,market agility,technological innovation and the risk control capability.Due to the generalization rate of products raised,On the one hand,the company cost control capacity improved.On the other hand,the product research time shortened and the market agility improved.Due to the modular deconstruction of products,companies can outsource modules.It accelerated technological innovation,on both the vehicle and system aspect.It enabling component suppliers and auto manufacturers jointly undertake the investment for new product development and production,thereby diversifying the R&D and production investment risks,enhancing the company's risk control capabilities and ensuring a steady increase in corporate performance.Finally,we found that modularity creates value for enterprises through four aspects: cost control,market agility,technological innovation,and risk control.Therefore,China's auto manufacturers should vigorously promote the modularization strategy,which will enhance their corporate value.The realization of leaps and bounds has played a great role in promoting,and at the same time,it should pay attention to the cooperation management with module suppliers to promote the smooth implementation of the modular strategy and other policy recommendations.
