Cross-border Exploration Of Architectural Design

Literature and architecture have been deeply indissoluble since ancient times.Literature and architecture often inspire each other.The relations between literature and architecture exist at all times and in all over the world,offically in ancient Chinese literaties which especially keen on the construction and management of the residence.Chinese classical architecture and classical gardens were poetic from birth.Architectures were protagonist or supporting role in literaties' articles.After all,the property of literature and architecture is different,the former is abstract in time,the latter is concrete in space.There is certain obstacle between them.Furthermore,the public has the cognitive limitations and obstacles in the cognition of the transformation of literature.Some practices have been doing in the building community,spark will strong and the establishment of the theoretical system of literary transformation is imminent.This paper base on the analysis of the actual cases of the transformation of literature,combines existing theories such as literary theory,architectural narratology,architectural phenomenology,Space syntax theory,architecture allusionism and environmental psychology.I hope to dig out the significance of the literature transform to architecture and contribute a little to build the theoretical system.The paper is divided into four parts.The first part introducts literature and architecture's origin,study range,current situation,significance and enlightenment,study methods and framework;The second part compares literature and architecture,reveals the inevitable relation and difference between literature and architecture,and come to conclusion that literature and architecture can be transformed to each other.Meanwhile,the paper enumerates actual cases that transform between literature and architecture at all times and in all over the world;The third part particularly introduces four architectural cases which use different transformation methods in different ways,and paves the way for summarizing methods below;The fourth part conclude all the methods above and extends other methods according to my understanding;The last part is graduation project which put the transform methods above into practice.The experimental design is transform The Walden Lake into a hostel,furtherlly verifies the idea's feasibility that literature transform to architectural.
