Shandong Province is the leader tire-producing province in China.Currently,over 300 tire manufacturing enterprises in Shandong,which are above the scale,account for about half of the domestic.At the same time,its annual tires production also accounts for about half of whole China.Since Chinese first comprehensive super-enforcement in 2009,Shandong Province has completely changed the pattern of Chinese tire industry and has also changed the concept of tire consumption worldwide.However,nowadays,tire manufacturing in Shandong Province faces many problems such as low-end production capacity,increasing prices of raw materials,and low market competitiveness,all of which make it difficult for Shandong tire manufacturers to escape from their predicament.Based on the above problem awareness,this paper selects Shandong tire manufacturing companies as the research object,and aims to provide recommendations for the improvement of the competitiveness of tire manufacturing companies in Shandong Province.This study mainly completes the combing of the theory of the enterprise's competitiveness,and the domestic and foreign research literature on tire manufacturing companies and their competitiveness.Secondly,the status of production and sales of tire manufacturing companies in Shandong Province as well as existing issues are described.Then,using the diamond model analysis method,the competitiveness of tire manufacturing enterprises in Shandong Province was analyzed from the six dimensions of production factors,demand conditions,related and supporting industries,corporate strategy,structure and industrial competition,opportunities,and government.Thirdly,using the SWOT analysis method,the strategic environment of tire manufacturing enterprises in Shandong Province was analyzed in terms of advantages,disadvantages,opportunities,and threats.Research shows that as a major province of domestic tire manufacturing,Shandong Province has made certain achievements.However,there are still bottlenecks such as lack of technological innovation and insufficient brand building.And compared with the three major tire giants-Michelin,Bridgestone and Goodyear,there is still a large gap in competitiveness.As a result of all analysis,suggestions were made as followings: to adjust the tire products structure,to develop and promote advanced technologies and green processes,to strengthen cooperation with supporting industries and enterprises,to make benchmarks by being bigger and stronger leading companies,to promote the tire business development by government supports,hoping these suggestions might provide some useful references to the promotion of enterprise competitiveness and its realization.
