Chongqing City, The Equipment Manufacturing Industry Competitiveness Study

Equipment manufacturing industry has a strategic position in the process of the economic development, with the feature of high industrial correlation and strong ability to absorb employment, which is a technology capital-intensive industry. It is the foundation of industrial upgrading and technological progress, and reflects the comprehensive national strength. With the transformation of world manufacturing industry, China's equipment manufacturing industry ushers a new period of development. As the base of China's industry and defense research production, Chongqing is also one of the state's key support bases for equipment manufacturing industry. And the paper evaluates competitiveness of the equipment manufacturing industry by the index of RCA and building competitiveness evaluation index system in terms of scale and output,market influence,efficiency,innovation and ecological competitiveness to analyze the competitiveness of inter equipment manufacturing industry in Chongqing, then using the evaluating model and Principal Component Analysis to research equipment manufacturing industry's competitiveness between China areas. The conclusion of quantitative analysis is that it exist imbalance between Chongqing's equipment manufacturing industries. The development of transportation equipment manufacturing and instrumentation\cultural\office machinery manufacturing industry are superior to the average level, which have competitive advantage, while other sub-industries are lower than the average. Combining the conclusions and current condition of Chongqing's industrial development, it selects transportation equipment manufacturing, instrumentation\Cultural\Office Machinery, general equipment manufacturing, electrical machinery equipment manufacturing, communication\computer\other electronic equipment manufacturing as the key fields of Chongqing's equipment manufacturing. After comprehensive analysis, it presents the proposals of the development of Chongqing's equipment manufacturing industry in the aspects of industrial cluster, relying on key projects, enhancing the independent innovation capability, education and so on.
