Under the background of economic globalization and information technical innovation, the flow of material and information between cities has become more frequent. Thus the development of the city has surpassed its own boundaries. The traditional "local space" has been integrated by the "flowing space" through various types of elementsr flow that connect cities and their facilities closely together. The world urban system has entered the stage of networking development, and the paradigm of urban system research has gradually rised. In recent years, the general plans for regional development such as “economic belt" and "urban agglomeration" have become important strategies for the country to explore a new path of urbanization and promote the development of regional integration. Therefore,it is necessary to investigate the increasingly complex spatial structure and organization mode of urban system from a more meticulous network perspective. This study takes the three provinces and one city in the Pan-Yangtze River Delta as the research area, and follows the empirical path of the urban network from the perspective of the headquarters-branch organization linkages of multinational enterprises. It uses the data from business directory of national economic survey in 2004,2008 and 2013 to build a directed-weighted urban networks.First, using social network analysis and exploratory spatial data analysis to comprehensively measure the overall characteristics of the directed-weighted urban networks.Based on the changes of basic network indicators, revealing the structural evolution characteristics of the whole network and the differences of urban network among industries.Simultaneously, using the method on the basis of the percentage of connection strength to figure out the organizational pattern of urban networks in the Pan-Yangyze River Delta.Secondly, starting from the existing research, this paper constructs a way for measuring the differentiating centrality and power of directed-weighted urban networks based on the headquarters-branch associations of enterprises, and evaluates the importance and function of nodes in urban networks from the perspective of differentiating centrality and power. The results of this paper show that:(1)The spatial distribution of the enterprises in the Pan-Yangtze River Delta tends to be balanced. The headquarters of the enterprises present a Z-type spatial structure with "Hefei-Nanjing-Suzhou-Shanghai-HanZhouNingbo" as the main node. The share of the producer services continues to increase, but the headquarters-branch associations in manufacturing, construction, real estate and other industries cannot be ignored.(2)Urban network density and matching ability increase, while the symmetry and central potential decrease. The overall network connection is centered on Shanghai,Nanjing,Suzhou and Hefei, but the focus of the connection gradually shiftes to Zhejiang Province. The producer services constitute the main body of the urban networks, while other industries such as the manufacturing industry reform the overall network from specific functions. The network organization mode gradually shiftes from the original flat pattern with Shanghai as the core to the three-tier structure formed by the “Shanghai-provincial capital/sub-central city-city”.(3)The city characteristics of spatial distribution of differentiating centrality and power are different. The centrality and control force show a positive correlation, but it is not absolute. For example, hub cities with high centrality and low control force, such as Suzhou and Ningbo, may have strong ability to innovate.
