Research On The Spatial Agglomeration Of The Western Manufacturing Industry

Manufacturing industry,as the pillar industry of development of national economic,has always been the focus of attention in society and academia.At present,there are problems in the development of China's manufacturing industry,such as low technological level and large regional differences,while the regional advantages and the differences in resource make each region's manufacturing industry develop its own special characteristics.Therefore,from the perspective of industrial agglomeration,research on the development of China's manufacturing industry is an important way to explore the development path of China's manufacturing industry.On the basis of previous studies,this paper takes the western region as the study area,and uses the entropy method and the proportion of simple shares to analyze the comprehensive development level and development capability,the industry distribution status,and the regional distribution status of the western manufacturing industry.Using the E-G index and Location Entropy to measure the industrial clustering degree of the western manufacturing industry in industry and geographical dimensions.And on this basis,using these models which the spatial lag model,the ordinary linear model and the spatial Dubin model to analyze and discuss the relationship between agglomeration of the western manufacturing industry and regional economic growth and total factor productivity,as well as influencing factors of western manufacturing industry agglomeration.The results of the study show that although the level of development of the western manufacturing industry and its development capacity are relatively low across the country,the western manufacturing industry has experienced a good development since the Western Development Strategy was proposed and implemented.Its development stage can be divided into three periods which are rapid growth,the steady growth period and the declining growth period.That are correspond to the three stages of the initial phase,the middle and late phase of the implementation of the Western Development Strategy,and the transition period of the Chinese economic entities.The share of the manufacturing industry and the regional are all shown that there may be some industrial agglomeration in the west manufacturing industry;From the industry dimension of agglomeration of the western manufacturing industry,the tobacco products industry and the transportation industry have always been high concentration industries in the western manufacturing industry.About 29% of manufacturing industry have increased the degree of industrial agglomeration,about 24% of manufacturing industry maintain the degree,and about 48% of manufacturing industry is gradually declining in the degree of industrial agglomeration.In the geographic dimension of agglomeration of the western manufacturing industry,the concentration of manufacturing industry in the southwestern region is significantly stronger than that in the northwestern region.The manufacturing industry cluster in Chongqing,Sichuan,Gansu,and Guangxi provinces are the strongest in the western region,and the trend shows that the concentration of manufacturing industry is on the rise in three western provinces,municipalities and autonomous regions.while the concentration of manufacturing industry in a half of the regions has a downward trend.There is a “U”-shaped curve relationship between industrial agglomeration of the western manufacturing industry and regional economic growth.There is a threshold value for manufacturing industry agglomeration to promote regional economic growth.The threshold is 1.0377.When the industrial agglomeration degree is greater than 1.0377,the manufacturing industry agglomeration will promote regional economic growth,and at present nine provinces,municipalities and autonomous regions in the western region do not meet this standard.At the same time,industrial agglomeration of the western manufacturing industry can increase their total factor productivity to a certain extent.The analysis of the influence factors of industrial agglomeration shows that the market environment,the level of local economic development,the investment in science and technology,and the spatial factors of various variables under the “competitive scale” in China will all affect the manufacturing industry cluster in the western region.Based on this,combined with the development of the western manufacturing industry,taking into account the relationship between industrial agglomeration and regional economic growth and total factor productivity of the manufacturing industry,and the influencing factors of western manufacturing industry agglomeration,the article puts forward corresponding policy recommendations.
