In September 2013,President Xi Jinping proposed for the first time to jointly build the “Silk Road Economic Belt”.The proposal of the “Silk Road Economic Belt” has provided a major opportunity for solving trade protectionism since the post-financial crisis and opens a new trade channel. The factor endowments of agricultural resources in the countries along the Silk Road are very different, and the complementarity of agricultural products trade is very strong. As the core area for the construction of the Silk Road Economic Belt, the five Central Asian countries have close trade links with China in terms of horticultural products. Therefore, the study of the status of cooperation between China and the five countries in Central Asia on horticultural products is of great significance for the all countries along the Silk Road Economic Belt. This study takes five Central Asian countries as representatives of countries along the Silk Road Economic Belt to study the trade potential of horticultural products in China. This has great practical significance for promoting the development of China's economy, especially the development of the western region, promoting the invincibility of China's horticultural products in the market competition of Central Asian countries, and helping China's export companies to make the right strategic choices.Based on the trade status of China and Central Asian countries and the trade data obtained from the database, this study uses the index analysis method as a research tool to analyze the competitiveness and complementarity of China with central Asian countries in the trade of horticultural products. In chapter 5,this paper elaborates gravity model and determines the influencing factors that affects trade volume. And then,20 years panel data are used in gravity model to analyze the influencing degree of horticultural products. Moreover, the paper uses the results of gravity model to calculate the horticultural products trade potential between China and central Asian countries. At last, suggestions are made to mitigate trade barriers and provide public services in order to release trade potential of China's horticultural products to the five countries in Central Asia. The paper shows that there is a comparative advantage for Chinese horticultural products in the countries along the Silk Road Economic Belt.Chinese horticultural products are highly competitive in the countries along the Silk Road Economic Belt. With China putting emphasis on the countries along the Silk Road Economic Belt, the competitiveness is more and more strong. The trade links between China and countries in the Silk Road Economic Belt are not close enough. The market potential of the Silk Road Economic Belt is huge and the market prospect is good. The empirical results of gravity model shows that distance is the biggest factor affecting China's exports of horticultural products along the Silk Road Economic Belt.Other variables, such as China's GDP,importing country's GDP,bilateral exchange rate and members belonging to Shanghai Economic Cooperation Organization, also have a great impact on horticultural products export. The calculation of the trade potential shows that China's trade in horticultural products with countries along the Silk Road Economic Belt out of Kyrgyzstan, enjoys a huge market potential.
