"The Strangers Standing On Their Own Land":Study Onthe Tourism And Local Social Reconstruction Of Huang Yao Ancient Town

The tourism industry has become a breakthrough point foreconomic development in China's ethnic minority areas and narrowing its gap with the eastern and central regions because of its strong industrial linkage and promotion.As a modern industry,tourism has Entered the traditional rural society and will inevitably have a huge impact and influence on its original social structure.The ancient town boasts a wealth of traditional ethnic culture and a splendid historical civilization.The rich tourism resources make the ancient town tourism area a unique type of modern tourism in China.In this context,this paper selects a historic town of Huangyao which is a group of Han,Zhuang,Yao ethnic group located in the southwestern ethnic minority areas of China.It is devoted to the study of the reconstruction of traditional rural society in the context of tourism development.Based on the theory of social change and the society of acquaintances,this paper uses the methods of ethnology and anthropology to introduce the basic situation of the ancient town of Huangyao,combing the three stages since the tourism development in 2001,and analyzing the tourism development and its traditional homeland.The contradictions and interactions between societies have examined the changes that tourism has brought to local politics,economy,society,and culture in the past 20 years and concluded that social changes are eternal.In the past,Huangyao's rural society has been slow.In the changes,tourism has accelerated its speed of change.The development of tourism has caused both positive and negative impacts on its social changes.At present,the positive impact is the main factor.The unfamiliar relationship,interest disputes and cultural conflicts that tourism development bring to the traditional acquaintance society have,to some extent,promoted the adjustment and development of their own societies.This dynamic process is essentially the processes of traditional rural social modernization.Therefore,the development of tourism in traditional and culturally resource-intensive rural areas has a strong practical significance for promoting its traditional social changes and modernization.
