The transportation industry is the cornerstone of human society's survival and development, and it is the leading, basic, and supportive industry in the process of regional economic development. There is a direct correlation between the scale of its facilities and the level of regional economic development. However, with the continuous expansion of the scale of transportation investment and the rapid development of the regional economy,we have found that the economic differences across the various regions of China are not gradually narrowing, but have gradually expanded. The view of the New Economic Geography School believes that:transport infrastructure has a significant impact on the coordinated development of regional economic activities, and the differences in regional economic development put forward higher requirements on the level of transport infrastructure. Therefore, theoretically studying the impact between the transportation infrastructure and the regional economy, and accurately grasping the mechanism of action and economic laws between the two,it is possible to find a new and new way to narrow the economic disparities between regions in China.Based on the relevant theories of transportation economics and econometrics, this paper adopts a combination of qualitative and quantitative analysis methods.Through the establishment of multiple structural equations and a simultaneous equation model, the relationship between investment in transportation facilities and economic growth among various regions was analyzed.First of all,on the premise of combing the relevant research status at home and abroad, this paper expounds the research ideas and research content of this paper, and constructs the research framework of this article.Secondly, the status quo of transportation infrastructure investment and regional economy are analyzed and theoretically analyzed, and the mechanism of action between them is determined. Then,it introduces the choice and construction of transportation infrastructure investment for regional economic development, and builds a simultaneous equation model composed of transportation supply equation, traffic investment equation, traffic demand equation, economic growth equation and employment equation. This model regards transportation supply, transportation investment, transportation demand, employment level, and economic growth as endogenous variables, and adds variables reflecting the spatial spillover effect of economic activity between adjacent regions in this model, and comprehensively considers the interaction between traffic infrastructure investment and economy growth.
