Transport infrastructure is an essential prerequisite for economic development. The relationship between transport infrastructure and economic growth is a researchhot-spot. Previous researcher mainly focused on the benefits of transport infrastructureand the relationship between transport infrastructure and economic development. Theresearchers mostly ignored the spatial spillover effects of transport infrastructure. Theresearchers assume that all regions were homogeneous and independent. But region ismutual related and not isolated. There are a few researches on spillover effects oftransport infrastructure in china. The papers mostly use Provincial data. This paper aimsto reveal spatial spillover effects of transport infrastructure on regional economics ofZhejiang Province. This paper firstly constructs a theoretical frame to explain the spatial spillovereffect of Transport infrastructure on economic growth. This paper assumes transportinfrastructure has spatial spillovers effect on regional economic development. Thespatial spillovers effect is either positive or negative. Exploratory spatial data analysisand spatial econometric techniques be used in the empirical research. ESDA is used todraw spatial distribution of per capita GDP. From the LISA map, we find that per capitaGDP show an evident feature of spatial cluster. Last we analysis the spatial spillovereffects of transport infrastructure by spatial econometric models. We deduce thefollowing conclusions from this paper.(1) The local transport infrastructure elasticity ofeconomic growth is about0.12,between the values calculated by early researchers fromtime series data and panel data.(2) The adjacent transport infrastructure has spatialspillovers effect to local economic development. The spatial spillover effect fromtransport infrastructure are largely positive. The adjacent transport infrastructureelasticity of economic growth is0.123and0.109respectively in2005and2010. Thesecond-order adjacent transport infrastructure has not spatial spillover effects. Spatialspillovers effect of transport infrastructure attenuates quickly. The external transportinfrastructure elasticity of economic growth is about0.01.(3) There are Spatial spillovereffects between two cities.Based on the above conclusions, we propose many suggestions on investment and layout of transport infrastructure. |
