Research On The Development Of Dangshan Pear Industry

Dangshan county,located in the north of Anhui Province,is known as a land of fruit.Its total fruit production accounts for 2/3 of that in the whole Province,and pear(the most famous fruit in Dangshan)production accounts for 1/8 of the total pear output in the whole country.At present,with the rapid development of agricultural industrialization,fruit industrialization has been vigorously promoted in Dangshan County,which has a great role in promoting agricultural and rural economy of Dangshan.Meanwhile,key problems have been found in the process of promoting the industrialization of characteristic fruit.The current situation of the development of Dangshan pear industrializationwere investigated and analyzed by methods of literature review,questionnaires and interviews.The results show that there exist six key problems: pear prices generally down as a result of fruit market saturation and new products emerging in an endless stream;short industry chain,few category and lack of quality;lack of infrastructure resources,vulnerable to natural disasters;output out of step with investment because of the lack of integrated management system;increasing cost and invariable planting conditions leading to the decrease of benefit;farmers' weak consciousness and ability to resist the risk of fruit damage as a result of the lag of policy insurance.Based on systematical analysis and relevant field investigation on the pear industry in Dangshan,the following suggestions are put forward in view of the problems in the development process of Dangshan pear industry.1.Optimize variety structure and develop pollution-free pear bases vigorously.Great importance should be continually attached to introducing fine varieties and introduction of new resources should be standardized.Long-term,effective and stable support should be given to key breeding units and teams with abundant human,material and financial resources and then commercial breeding industry will be gradually built.2.Promote new pear varieties and related technologies.New variety development and introduction should be encouraged and the new varieties should be widely publicized. Various science and technology cultivating and training for pear farmers will make them accept the new varieties willingly.3.Improve management level and build highly intensive and large-scale management.According to the principle of "expanding optimum area,stabilizing suitable area,eliminating unsuitable area",Dangshan pear planting area should be readjusted.Such integrated management technology as reasonable fertilizing should be publicized to increase soil organic matter content and improve pear trees quality and their resistance.Promote green pest control technologies,such as using insecticidal lamps,sex lures,armyworm plates and biological pesticides to reduce the pollution of pesticides on the fruit.Farmers' professional co-operatives and large-scale growers can give good examples and make broad pear growers aware of the harm of using prohibited pesticides.Brand strategy helps enhance market competitiveness.Building of fruit market and developing quality monitoring system should be promoted.4.Strengthen marketing innovation.Based on market demand and consumers' psychology and aesthetic orientation,Dangshan pears should be promoted with elegant outer packing.New marketing ways of experiential sales and individual sales should be developed.Experiential marketing is a new marketing mode,concerned by consumers due to the feature of participation and interaction,significantly expanding the sales of pears.5.Put emphasis on the commercialization of the postharvest fruit and enhance the technology of storage,transportation and processing.Picking post-processing system should be built,such as precooling,grading,cleaning and waxing.Diversification of fruit packaging can increase fruit value.Advanced fruit preservation and storage should be introduced to prolong the storage period of fruits and increase storage ratio.
