A Study On The Educational Function Of Children In The Little Friend Magazine Of Zhonghua Book Company (1922-1937)

Late Qing Dynasty and Early Republic of China,foreign children-oriented education concept was introduced into China,many writers in our country began to pay attention to the group of children who have been neglected all the time,as a result,theoretical theories,educational ideas and various reading materials about children have swarmed in.As the second largest publishing house in the period of the Republic of China,Zhonghua Book Company also caught this hot issue and started publishing business for children's books,"The Little Friend" magazine was born in this background.The editors of "The Little Friend" magazine will use the concept of children as the main body throughout the works of the magazine,expecting children to get different educational value from it.In this paper,"The Little Friend" magazine of Zhonghua Book Company is taken as the research object,and using literature method and historical research method to collect the works of "The Little Friend" magazine from 1922 to 1937 as the original materials,and text analysis of these original materials,so as to analyze the children's educational function of "The Little Friend" magazine of Zhonghua Book Company,summarize the historical contributions of different children's educational functions,to provide inspiration for the editing and creation of children's books today.This paper is divided into four parts:The first part is the introduction.This paper introduces the origin of the problem,the review of related research and the theoretical basis and research methods of this study,and clarifies the theoretical and practical significance of this study.The second part is the era background and process of the publication of "The Little Friend" magazine of Zhonghua Book Company.Based on the historical facts,from two aspects of ideological background and publishing background,this paper summarizes the founding background of "The Little Friend" magazine in the Early Republic of China.In addition,from the four aspects of "The Little Friend" magazine's reader positioning,publication purpose,content style,and author group,the magazine's founding process is specifically explained.The third part is the embodiment of children's education function in "The Little Friend" magazine of Zhonghua Book Company.By describing and analyzing different types of works in "The Little Friend" magazine,and summarize the children's educational functions of "The Little Friend" magazine from three aspects: patriotism education,ideological and moral education and cultural knowledge education.The fourth part is the historical contribution and realistic enlightenment of "The Little Friend" magazine of Zhonghua Book Company.According to the children's educational function of "The Little Friend" magazine of Zhonghua Book Company,its historical contribution at that time was expounded;historical contribution of children's educational functions through "The Little Friend" magazine,to explore its enlightenment on the editing and creation of today's children's books.
