The chapter of the Prince of Good Deeds Going to Sea for Mani is listed as the 42 nd in the Volume IX in the Sutra of Wise and Foolish.It describes the story that the prince of Good Deeds of Baokai country determined to go to the turbulent and unpredictable sea to get the mani pearl.After arduous hardships,he finally get it successfully and makes into the donation.During the reign of Tubo in Dunhuang,the Sutra of Wise and Foolish was translated into Tibetan,and the chapter of the Prince of Good Deeds Going to Sea for Mani was also spread in Tibet.Therefore,in addition to the Chinese scriptures,I also found a story quite similar to the plot composition of the Prince of Good Deeds Going to Sea for Mani in the Tibetan literature.Therefore,this paper will take the text criticism as the starting point,take the sDe dge woodblock version of the Sutra of Wise and Foolish in the bKar 'gyur as the base,supplemented by the sNar thang woodblock version and the Bla brang paper version,make a sentence by sentence exploration between the Tibetan text and the Chinese text in the DaZhengzang,in order to learn and interpret some useful results.In addition,the article will also make a brief discussion on the theme of the Prince of Good Deeds Going to Sea for Mani,the relationship with other similar stories,the significance and evolution of mani pearl in the whole story.
