Cities are the crystallization of human civilization in the living space,and are the centers of politics,economy,science and technology,culture and education in countries and regions.In today's world,the economic tide continues to rise,market-oriented competition is becoming increasingly fierce,and it is manifested among regions as increasingly fierce competition between cities.City image can show the city's overall style,spirit and style,and is an important part of the city's core competitiveness.As the most important means of transportation in modern large cities,the subway benefits the production and life of millions of households.The huge communication function of the subway is not inferior to its important position in transportation.It is also a medium in itself.As a medium,the urban subway,like other media in the city,carries many urban functions and shapes the image of the city.In this article,from the perspective of urban communication,taking the entire Hangzhou subway public space including subway entrances,subway stations,subway trains,and the changes in urban space and pattern along the line caused by the subway as the research object,through observation method and field interview method to study Hangzhou Metro's image of Hangzhou city.The author's research conclusions are: As a media of communication,the Hangzhou Metro subtly spreads and shapes the image of Hangzhou: by naming subway stations,subway murals,subway brand trains,etc.,with the theme of Hangzhou city spirit,celebrities,history,allusions,etc.,to shape the cultural image of Hangzhou's historic city;To shape the advanced and modern economic image of Hangzhou through the vigorous development of the metro economy represented by metro commercial circles and metro properties;by mass communication through subway TV,subway newspapers and other media in subway public spaces,the interpersonal communication between passengers and subway staff,and the subway's own brand communication,to gathering the relevant information of the city,spreadand shape the image of Hangzhou.
