High dynamic range display technology is a technique for maximally reproducing the dynamic range of natural scenes on a display device.The higher the dynamic range of the display,the better the performance of the detail and the more layers of the image.In order to solve the shortcomings of the traditional display system in the picture level,an LED-LCD dual modulation modulation high dynamics(HDR)display system using a blue light-emitting diode(LED)array to excite quantum dot enhancement film(QDEF)as the backlight of the liquid crystal panal is proposed and implemented.In this paper,the dynamic range of the display system and the improvement of the color display are theoretically demonstrated and confirmed in the experiment.At the same time,the hardware structure and function of the display system are introduced in detail,and the software logic of each module is summarized.Thereafter,the experimental display system was experimentally measured,and the peak brightness of the system was 1851 cd/m~2,the black brightness was less than 0.02cd/m~2,and the color gamut coverage was 42.72%.Compared with the traditional display,the dynamic range of the display system proposed in this paper has been greatly improved,and color performance capabilities that can be presented have been significantly improved.In terms of display algorithm,this paper proposes a display algorithm for HDR images based on LED-LCD dual HDR display system,which aims to better reproduce the brightness details required by HDR images and improve the visual quality.First,the Correspondence between the HDR image brightness and the LED brightness range is established,and the light diffusion function is used to calculate the weight of the backlight LED brightness value range.Then,the weight of the LED illumination intensity level of the pixels in the the LED luminance radiation area is accumulated.The brightness corresponding to the maximum value of the weight of the LED illumination intensity level is taken as the brightness of the backlight LED.Finally,a backlight diffusion image is generated using the LEDs luminance,and an LCD display image is calculated using the backlight diffusion image and the HDR image.The simulation results show that the algorithm can display the brightness distortion coefficient as low as 0.006 or less.The algorithm is experimentally verified on the LCD-LED dual modulation high dynamic display,which effectively improves the layering of the image.The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can effectively weaken the“halo”and brightness clipping-off effects of the LCD-LED dual modulation high dynamic display and improve the display quality.
