Following the development of TFT-LCD technologies, in addition to the demand of higher and higher resolution about the display equipment, the field of display pays more and more attention on the abundant degree of colour. The field of display hopes that the display device can show more rich and colorful color and can reproduce the original color of nature,so it can make customers have a sensed presence and natural sense.The main goal of this dissertation is to do research on the principle and application of wide color gamut display technology from the angel of how to improve the abundant degree of colour.Firstly,this dissertation introduces the principle of white LED which Promote fast development of liquid crystal display technology,and also introduces some basic principle of color science and the relevant principle about display.On the basis of the principle of liquid crystal display device,by studying the relationship between phosphor wavelength and backlight spectrum,this dissertation studies the the relationship between backlight spectrum and color gamut, luminous efficacy,and then explains the principle of how to improve display device gamut by backlight.Based on the color space and the relevant theories of color gamut,this dissertation studies the colour-enhanced algorithm about wide color gamut and focuses on gamut extension algorithm.Using gamut extension techniques, the color representationability of wide gamut devices can be utilized to display small gamut images more vividly.According to the principle of improving the color gamut through the backlight and actual application,this dissertation puts forward several design scheme about wide color gamut backlight,and studies the New R powder plan,double chip LED plan and quantum dots solution in detail.This dissertation also studies the realization principles of various alternatives and do some tests about application.From the tests,this dissertation can get the advantages and disadvantages of each scheme,and the tests also prove the size of color gamut it can realize and the results each scheme performs.This dissertation does the color enhancement processing differently to the different platform of wide color gamut and carries on the simulation to the mode of color gamut extension.
