Diabetes mellitus is a common chronic disease that requires continuous monitoring of blood glucose level to provide guidance for diagnosis and therapy.Nowadays,implantable enzyme electrode sensors are widely used for continuous glucose monitoring in a clinical setting,but this approach has inherent disadvantages which include significant current sig-nal drift due to the bioelectricity of the body.The method may also fail to detect hypogly-cemia as a result of the irreversible consumption of glucose during the process of enzyme catalytic reaction.The implantable fiber Surface Plasmon Resonance?SPR?sensor based on refractive index variation is able to overcome these drawbacks to detect glucose.How-ever,the miniaturization of fiber SPR sensor results in a low sensitivity compared with tra-ditional prism-type SPR sensors.To address this problem,this paper proposes a side-pol-ished fiber SPR sensor with hybrid graphene-MoS2 nanostructure for sensitivity enhance-ment.Moreover,the graphene was functionalized with pyrene-1-boronic acid?PBA?via?–?stacking interactions.This work could be divided into following parts.?1?The processing of fiber SPR sensor.Firstly,the structure of fiber SPR sensor was designed.Then the main parameters of the sensor were optimized.Finally,the process of side polishing,thermal evaporation coating and fiber fusion were described.?2?Nanostructured modification of fiber SPR sensor.The theoretical mechanism of improving sensor performance by two-dimensional materials was described.a novel liquid transfer method was proposed to transfer both of monolayer MoS2 and graphene onto the surface of micro sensor.?3?Surface functionalized modification of fiber SPR sensor.The mechanism of PBA binding glucose molecule was analyzed.The method of immobilization of PBA on the sur-face of sensor was studied.?4?Sensor performance testing and evaluation.The experimental measurement system was set up.Then we optimized the number of MoS2 layer and graphene layer.Moreover,the comparison of with or without PBA have been conducted experimentally.
