The Ladies Journal was founded in Shanghai on January 5,1915,and ceased publication on January 28,1932 due to the bombing of the Commercial Press.This is an extensive women's comprehensive magazine that has been published for 17 years.In the press history of Chinese women's newspapers,it has the longest history,the widest distribution area,and great social impact.It is an important reference publication for studying modern social changes and the women's movement in the Republic of China.In the era of fierce conflict between the old and the new,it not only bears the mark of the old ideas,but also brings out the light of many new ideas.As a women's magazine,its content and audience are limited to "non-mainstream",but it still persists in turbulent politics,lighting the torch for women's awakening and liberation.However,at the same time as enlightening women,it is also guiding the imitation and change of real readers in the form of establishing ideal models,and shaping the gender of the magazine with the will and goals of the magazine.This article is structurally divided into three parts.The first part mainly introduces the magazine overview and staging of The Ladies Journal,as well as the cultural ecological environment at that time,in order to clarify the historical background and content positioning of the Journal.The second part primarily focuses on the magazines editors,and carefully analyzes the influence of editors' thoughts and changes in magazine style.With the efforts of the editorial community,The Ladies Journal constantly updated the expectations and requirements of the times for women,but this ideal image of women was shaped by the needs of men of the times.On the one hand,it became a model for women to learn On the other hand,it restricts women's inner ideals.The third part mainly focuses on the influence of magazine reading and editing interaction and reader evaluation on magazine style,and explores the direct relationship between newspaper reporters and readers.
