Responsive WEB Design For Chinese 3D Head Database

The complex geometry of the human head's facial surface presents a challenge for designers and engineers seeking to create properly fitting wearable products.The rapid growth of the Chinese consumer market has created a demand for new Chinese fit wearable products.The industry requires accurate digital data on Chinese head and facial shapes to develop new consumer products.However,there are few 3D anthropometric surveys or 3D anthropometric database on Chinese head and face,and most wearable products designed based on data of westerners which differs from that of the Chinese population.Only by establishing a comprehensive and easy-to-use Chinese 3D head database to support Chinese head adaptation of wearable products,can Chinese fit wearable products be developed.Most of the anthropometric databases exist in the traditional form of research reports or folder type.It is not only an urgent need for database users but also an inevitable trend of technological development to create 3D scan databases avai lable online with real-time interactive tools and an effective interface.Collecting 3D head and facial scan data is the first step in creating a database,and the second step is communicating the results through user-friendly interfaces.This project is originated from the Hunan teaching reform research project “industrial design teaching research and reform based on contemporary Chinese anthropometric head data” hosted by Body Shape Lab,School of Design,Hunan university.From 2017 to 2018,the project team has conducted the 3D head survey of 2200 Chinese heads and faces,further processed and extracted the acquired data.Based on the final data results,database analysis and user research was carried out.Following the five-element model of user experience,a responsive Chinese 3D head database website was created by using Html5 and the Three.Js 3D engine,which can effectively meet the needs of product designers and ergonomics researchers for 3D head data and can facilitate the use and spread of anthropometric databases.The innovation of this paper is the creation of the first real-time interactive 3D Chinese head database online website.Different from the single table form of traditional anthropometric database,the database website designs corresponding dynamic interactive data query tools for different data types,us ing of the advantages of online websites in human-computer interaction,data visualization and other aspects,so that users can efficiently understand and use data.On the basis of traditional 3D anthropometric database,the database website adds many practical data types,such as original measurement data and fitting head models,which can meet the requirements of developing product design and ergonomics research.
