With the rapid development of automat ic control in the industry, tradit ional bus technology can’t meet the needs of industry, and many have good reliability, timeliness, trans miss ion speed, and distance advantages of real-time industr ial Ethernet is widely used.According to the project request, in this paper a appropriate industria l Ethernet protocol is choosed for real-time system control.Firstly, compared to other real- time analys is of several major real- time Industrial Ethernet, EtherC AT Industrial Ethernet has its special advantages.Secondly, make an in- depth study for the EtherC AT system operation principle, including system components, data frame structure, addressing modes, communication mode, the application layer protocol, clock distribut ion and state machines.Thirdly, make a detail analys is for special EtherC AT slave controler, inc lud ing its FMMU(Fieldbus Memory Management Unit) funct ion, SM(Sync Manager) features funct ion.And then propose configuration,in t he meantime, make a real-time simulation study for the EtherC AT.Finally, build the EtherC AT network to test the state machine funct ionality and scalabilit y. And then make a test for the reliability of real- time EtherC AT network.Through these works, the EtherC AT protocol meets the requireme nts of the project,and provides a theoretical basis for the further development of the project.
